Our approach

It starts with a conversation.
Not a product.

Before we can help solve a problem, we need to understand the person living with it. That means learning what matters to you, what concerns you, what you already have in place, and what would genuinely help you feel more secure about the future.

Before we recommend anything

We want to understand what would help you sleep better at night.

Maybe it is uncertainty around Medicare. Maybe it is protecting a spouse, preserving savings, preparing for future care, or simply knowing that your family would be okay.

Whatever the concern is, that is where the conversation begins.

Products come later—if a product is even necessary.

The Behoovest First-Meeting Promise

Your first conversation is never a sales appointment.

We will not ask you to purchase a product during our first meeting. Before we recommend anything, we believe we need to understand you—what matters to you, what keeps you up at night, what you already have in place, and what you are trying to protect.

No pressure. No forcing a solution. No “closing.”
Listen first. Recommend second.

We believe the solution should follow the conversation.

Insurance can become product-focused very quickly. Someone has a policy to sell, so every conversation begins to look like a reason to buy it. We believe that process is backwards.

Our job is to understand your concerns in enough depth that we can identify the risks that actually matter to you. Only then can we determine whether your existing coverage, your own resources, a different strategy, or an insurance product is the appropriate answer.

And if what you already have is doing its job, we are comfortable telling you that too.

Your concern comes first. We begin with the problem you want to solve—not the product we might eventually recommend.
Your existing coverage matters. Before adding anything new, we want to understand what you already own and whether it is already doing the job.
Tradeoffs deserve an explanation.Every solution has advantages, disadvantages, costs, limitations, and alternatives. You deserve to understand them.
You control the decision. We can research, explain, compare, and recommend. The decision to move forward always belongs to you.
What guides our recommendations

Advice should begin with your life—not an application.

These principles shape how we approach every Medicare and insurance conversation.

1

Understand Before Advising

We ask questions about your goals, concerns, family, healthcare preferences, finances, and existing protection before discussing possible solutions.

2

Never Manufacture a Need

If there is not a meaningful problem to solve, there is no reason to force a product into the conversation.

3

Explain the Tradeoffs

We want you to understand not only why an option may help, but what it costs, where it is limited, and what alternatives exist.

4

Protect What Already Works

New does not automatically mean better. Existing coverage deserves a fair evaluation before any change is considered.

5

Recommend With a Reason

Every recommendation should answer a simple question: what specific concern or risk does this solve for you?

6

Leave the Decision With You

Our role is to help you understand your options well enough to make a confident decision—not to make the decision for you.

Meeting one is about you

What does an actual first conversation look like?

We spend the first meeting learning. There are no purchase decisions to make and no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need.

The questions behind the obvious question are often the most important. It is not simply, “Do you need life insurance?” It is, “Who would be affected financially if something happened to you?” It is not simply, “Do you want long-term care coverage?” It is, “What would happen to your family if you needed help for several years?”

That is the level of conversation we believe good planning requires.

We may talk about questions like:

› What financial or healthcare concern has been sitting in the back of your mind?

› If nothing changed, what would worry you most five or ten years from now?

› Who depends on you, and what would you want protected for them?

› What do you already have in place, and what do you like or dislike about it?

› Which risks would you rather insure, and which are you comfortable handling yourself?

› What would need to be true for you to walk away feeling more confident?

What you will not experience

A conversation should not feel like a closing table.

Removing pressure creates room for better questions, clearer thinking, and better decisions.

×

No First-Meeting Sale

We do not ask you to purchase a product during the first conversation. We are still learning about you.

×

No Predetermined Solution

We do not enter the meeting already knowing what we want you to buy. The recommendation has to come from the facts.

×

No Forced Decision

When options are eventually presented, you can understand them, ask questions, compare tradeoffs, and decide what makes sense to you.

From conversation to decision

What happens after the first meeting?

Once we understand your situation, we do the work of evaluating the problem before asking you to consider a solution.

Meeting One

Conversation

We learn about you, your concerns, what you already have, and what you want to protect. No product purchase is requested.

Our Work

Analysis

We evaluate your situation, review existing protection, research appropriate options, and consider relevant alternatives.

Meeting Two

Recommendations

We explain what we found, why an option may help, and the costs, limitations, alternatives, and tradeoffs involved.

Your Decision

Move Forward—or Don't

If an option makes sense to you, you tell us you would like to proceed. If it does not, there is nothing to “close.”

Sometimes the answer is simple

The right recommendation may be no change at all.

A recommendation only has value if it improves something meaningful. If your existing coverage is appropriate, your resources are sufficient, or the cost of solving a risk outweighs the benefit, we believe you should know that.

“Sometimes the best recommendation we can make is to keep exactly what you already have.”

Because the objective is not to create a transaction. It is to help you make a better-informed decision.

You do not need to know what product you need before we talk.

Bring your questions, your concerns, and whatever you already have in place. We will start there and determine together whether anything actually needs to be solved.
